Our Engineering teams tackle complex technical challenges across a global, three-sided marketplace, building and scaling systems that serve millions of customers, riders and partners every day.</p> <p>From real-time logistics to resilient infrastructure and marketplace optimisation, we design, build and operate technology that powers Deliveroo’s growth at scale.</p> <p>We partner with some of the largest grocery retailers in the world, as well as a large number of small independent grocers.&nbsp;</p> <p>In November 2023 we launched our non-food retail offering, Deliveroo ‘Shopping’, where we work with large and small merchants. We oversee all operations within the grocery and retail ecosystem, ensuring stores are equipped to receive and efficiently process orders. Our solutions empower stores to manage orders seamlessly through multiple channels, including our in-house app, API integration, and devices pre-installed with our software. Additionally, we provide tools to maintain and update product catalogs, ensuring accurate inventory for consumers. The technology we’ve developed enables our partners to pick the correct items swiftly while keeping inventory data current, optimizing both efficiency and accuracy.</p> <p>We’re looking for a <strong>Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack</strong> to join our <strong>London</strong> team. In this role, you’ll help us build and scale seamless, high-performance features that span our entire stack, ensuring a world-class experience for our customers, partners, and riders.</p> <p>Get to know our <a class="ng-star-inserted" href="https://careers.deliveroo.co.uk/software-engineering-at-deliveroo/" target="_blank">Engineering team</a> — what drives us, how we work, and what you can expect.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3>What You’ll Be Doing</h3> <p>This role is based in our London office with a <strong>hybrid</strong> setup, typically 3 days in the office.</p> <p>Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:</p> <ul> <li> <p><strong>Drive technical execution</strong> by designing, building, and scaling backend services and frontend components that handle high-traffic workloads (20krpm and above).</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Lead architectural improvements</strong> and code reviews, ensuring the efficiency, visibility, and operational health of your team's systems.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Partner with cross-functional disciplines</strong> (PMs, Experience Designers) to plan projects, foresee dependencies, and mitigate technical risks.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Break down complex problems</strong> into deliverable choices, influencing the roadmap and technical direction within your team.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Support the growth of others</strong> by mentoring colleagues and taking an active role in our engineering hiring process to build high-performing teams.</p> </li> </ul> <h3>What You’ll Need to Thrive</h3> <p>Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others:</p> <ul> <li> <p><strong>Significant experience building web-based applications</strong> in a modern stack; we use Go, Ruby, Python, and Scala, and we’re looking for someone keen to work across them.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Proven ability to design and operate web architecture at scale</strong>, specifically with systems handling significant request volumes.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Demonstrated ownership of relational databases</strong> (Po
